青木宏・明主航 「I am here」

土と向き合う二人の陶芸家、青木宏と明主航。常滑と京都、それぞれの土地で生まれた作品が集まり、土の手触りと時間の気配を静かに伝えます。

青木宏は「土の種子」をテーマに制作しています。二千年前の蓮の種が花を咲かせたという「大賀蓮」の物語に心を寄せ、焼成と削りを繰り返しながら作品を形づくります。その表面には、まるで時間そのものが刻まれているかのような存在感があります。

明主航は、古い壺や皿などに魅せられ、それらを型にした作品を制作しました。素焼きの型から生まれる形は、過去と現在をつなぎ、記憶を宿したように佇みます。

作品をつくる時、私は土や炎と対話をしながら、実は自分自身と対話をしているのだといつも感じています。私にとって作品とは、積み重なっていく対話と時間の痕跡です。
私は経年変化した物が好きですが、経年変化したような質感の作品をつくりたい訳ではありません。経年変化した物のように、作品に刻まれていく時間を表現したいのです。

普段、時をテーマに制作しているのですが今回、二人展との事で互いの見ている微細な感覚の共通点を感じられ、今展の方向性がすっと腑に落ち、形となりました。
時の重なりをいろいろな方向から見ていただける場となり、見て触れて体感して頂けると思います。

Two ceramic artists, AOKI Hiroshi and MYOSHU Wataru, work closely with clay. Their works, created in Tokoname and Kyoto, come together here, quietly conveying the texture of earth and the presence of time. AOKI Hiroshi creates under the theme of “Seeds of Clay.” Inspired by the story of the “Ōga Lotus,” which bloomed from a seed over two thousand years old, he repeatedly fires and carves his pieces. The surfaces of his works seem to make the passage of time itself visible. MYOSHU Wataru creates works using molds taken from old vessels and plates that captured his attention. From these simple clay forms emerge objects that link the past and the present, standing as if holding memories within.

AOKI Hiroshi
When I create, I feel that while I am in dialogue with clay and fire, I am also in dialogue with myself. For me, a work is the trace of these ongoing conversations and the passage of time.
I am drawn to things that have aged over time, but I do not aim to reproduce their appearance. Rather, I want to express the sense of time being inscribed into the work itself, as if it too were marked by years gone by.

MYOSHU Wataru
I usually work with the theme of time, and for this two-person exhibition I felt a shared sensitivity with my counterpart. This resonance gave clarity to the direction of the show and allowed the works to take shape naturally.
I hope this exhibition offers a space where the layers of time can be seen from different perspectives, inviting visitors to look, touch, and experience them directly.
