福島を拠点に活動する金子潤さんによる、水犀での初個展となります。
金子さんは、性別・国籍・時代を越えて「縫う」「編む」「巻きつける」といったモチーフを、絵の具を削る・擦る・塗るなど多様な技法で表現し、繊細さと力強さを併せ持つ作品を生み出しています。日々の喜怒哀楽を自身の視点で捉え、モノクロームの世界の中に豊かな情感と物語を織り込むその表現は、見る人の想像力を静かに、そして力強く刺激します。

絵を描き始めた2004年頃に見つけ、手法の中に未完成のまま保留したまましまっていたアイデアがあり、今回それを思いだしてやってみることにしました。
久しぶりに絵の具を無駄使いして試行錯誤した結果、最近の作品にはなかった新たな質感が表れました。これらを多用した新作たちを中心にアーカイブ作品も合わせて展示致します。

This will be the first solo exhibition at mizusai by KANEKO Jun, an artist based in Fukushima.
Kaneko’s work transcends gender, nationality, and era, using motifs such as sewing, knitting, and wrapping, expressed through a diverse range of techniques — scraping, rubbing, and painting with pigments. His pieces embody both delicacy and strength.
Interpreting the emotions of everyday life — joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure — from his unique perspective, Kaneko weaves rich emotions and narratives into a monochrome world. His work quietly, yet powerfully, stirs the imagination of its viewers.

Around 2004, when I first began painting, I came across an idea which, at the time, I left unfinished and put aside within my technique. Recently, I recalled this idea and decided to finally give it a try. Through trial and error — wasting more paint than usual — I arrived at a new texture that had not appeared in my recent works. This exhibition will feature new pieces utilizing these textures alongside select archived works.
