森田朋・中根嶺 「潜る、潜る。」

版画家の森田朋さんと金工作家の中根嶺さんの二人展です。森田さんはユニークなタイトルのついた物語性のある版画、ドローイング、陶の立体作品の展示。中根さんは学生時代に学んだ自身の制作の原点である木彫で人物や動物などを表現した作品を中心に金属のオブジェや定番の照明、受注形式の薬缶や鍋を展示しています。今回の展示のテーマ「潜る、潜る」は現在の二人の制作に対する状況を表した言葉です。二人の作品の重なりを一緒に楽しんでいただけたらと思います。

◎森田朋
自分の内側を覗きこんで制作していた若かりし日々。 随分月日は流れたのに、あの頃と変わらない自分に参ってしまうこともある。 同じところをぐるぐるしているような気持ちになる。

今回の展示にあたり、何度かのミーティングの末、展覧会のタイトルが「潜る潜る」になった時に 当てのない潜るばかりの先に小さな光が見えた気がした。

版画を作ってきたから、出会えた人達がいて ドロドロの腐食液はいつだって私の味方だった。 潜って潜って、また会いに行こうと思えた。

私の中にある小さな木がいつの間にか大きくなっていて 見上げると逆光でシルエットだけがくっきりしてた。

◎中根嶺
形と向き合うことの楽しさを知り、作るということを生業にできたらと思ったのはいつの日か。それから随分と時間が経ち、金属を素材として作ることが日常となったいま自身の心の深淵へと潜り、耳を澄ます。

気の赴くままに手を動かし作ることを楽しみたいと思いながらもつい頭で考えてしまったり、他者の評価を意識してしまったり、そういった自分で勝手に築いてしまった障壁を潜り抜けるような気持ちでいま自分が作りたい形というものに素直に向き合いたいと思います。

今展では木彫にも取り組みます。原点にありながら今まで趣味として留めてきましたが木も金属もそれぞれの素材に魅力があり、その素材でしかできないことや表現の面白さを共有することができれば幸いです。

MORITA Tomo ・NAKANE Ren Exhibition ”Dive, Dive”

​​This is a two-person exhibition by printmaker Tomo Morita and metalworker Mine Nakane. Morita-san exhibits narrative prints with unique titles, drawings and ceramic sculptures. Ms Nakane exhibits mainly wood carvings of people and animals, which she learnt as a student and which are the starting point of her own work, as well as metal objects, standard lighting, and order-made medicine cans and pots. The theme of this exhibition, ‘Dive, Dive’, is a word that expresses the current situation of the two artists with regard to their work. We hope that visitors will enjoy the overlapping of the two artists’ works together.

◎MORITA Tomo
Those were the days of my youth, when I looked inside myself to create. Although a lot of time has passed, I sometimes get overwhelmed by the fact that I am still the same as I was back then I feel as if I am going round and round in the same circles.
After several meetings on the occasion of this exhibition, When the title of the exhibition was “Diving, Diving, Diving”. I thought I saw a small light at the end of the aimless diving.
Because I have been making prints, there are people I have met. The sludgy corrosive liquid was always on my side. I could dive and dive and dive and dive to see them again.
The little tree inside me had somehow grown bigger. I looked up and the backlight made only its silhouette clear.

◎NAKANE Ren
When did I discover the pleasure of working with shapes and wished to make a living from making them? Now that a long time has passed, and making metal as a material has become an everyday activity, I dive into the depths of my own mind and listen carefully.
I want to enjoy making things by moving my hands as I feel like it, but at the same time But we are also thinking with our brains, or are conscious of what others think of us, I want to go through the barriers that I have erected on my own. I would like to face the form that I want to create now.
In this exhibition, I am also working on wood carving. Although it is my starting point, I have kept it as a hobby until now. Both wood and metal have their own charms, and I would be happy if I could share with you what can only be done with these materials and the fascination of expression.

森田朋
1974年名古屋市生まれ
油絵を描いていた学生時代に銅版画に出会って以来ずっと銅版画の技法に助けられて絵を描いてきました。

中根嶺　
1989年 滋賀県に生まれる
美術工芸高校 彫刻科を卒業後、都内工房にてブライダルリングの制作,デザインに従事。
2014年 京都に工房を構え独立、生活道具やオブジェ、装身具などを制作。

MORITA Tomo
Born 1974 in Nagoya, Japan
I have been painting with the help of etching techniques ever since I first encountered copperplate prints as a student who was painting in oils.

NAKANE Ren
1989 Born in Shiga Prefecture, Japan
After graduating from the sculpture department of an arts and crafts high school, worked in bridal ring production and design at a studio in Tokyo.
2014 Established her own studio in Kyoto, where she produces tools for daily life, objects and ornaments.
