小川哲 「まるくてあかいはりんごにみえる」

幾何学形を組み合わせた平面作品を制作する小川哲さんの個展です。アイディアの源泉はフォークアートや古代美術にあると語る小川さん。今回は益子の成井窯で滞在制作をした器やオブジェなどの陶芸作品の展示もあります。
小川さんのペインティング作品は、たくさんの紙片の貼り合わせで制作しています。パソコンで作ったイメージを元に、紙を切り出し、紙片に彩色し、紙のパーツを貼り合わせ、大きい画面にしていきます。円形や四角形といったシンプルな形で構成されたイメージが、彩色の際の絵具の滲みや、紙の種類やカットの違いによって、全体で見たときに有機的な揺らぎや心地よいリズムを生み出しています。
今回の展示のために制作した大きな作品は数百のパーツを組み合わせて制作しています。木や森をテーマにした作品はまるで自然の中にいるような気分にしてくれます。とても幸せな気分になります。

なにかをみる、なにかがみえる、なにかにみえる。
つながるれんそう、ひろがるそうぞう、「みえた」風景、それは「絵」のはじまり。
そんなことをかんがえていると、作品がうまれてきます。

OGAWA SATOSHI Solo exhibition “Round and red looks like an apple”

This is a solo exhibition of OGAWA Satoshi, who creates two-dimensional works combining geometric shapes. Ogawa says that the source of his ideas comes from folk art and ancient art. This exhibition also features ceramic works such as vessels and objects created during his residency at Narui Kiln in Mashiko.
OGAWA’s paintings are created by pasting together many pieces of paper. Based on an image created on a computer, he cuts out paper, colors the paper pieces, and pastes the paper parts together to create a large screen. Images composed of simple shapes, such as circles and squares, create organic fluctuations and pleasant rhythms when viewed as a whole, due to the blotting of paint during the coloring process and the different types and cuts of paper. The large work created for this exhibition is made up of several hundred parts.
Works on the theme of trees and forests make you feel as if you are in nature. It makes me feel Very happy.

Seeing something, seeing something, seeing something.
Associations that connect, imagination that expands, and “seen” landscapes are the beginning of a “picture.
Thinking about these things, a work of art is born.
OGAWA SATOSHI

1972年島根県生まれ、セツ・モードセミナー卒業。水彩やコラージュの要素を用い、シンプルなかたちやパターンの要素をとりいれたリズミカルな作画で活動。個展の開催、プロダクト制作、陶器作品の制作などに力を入れている。

Born in Shimane Prefecture in 1972, graduated from Setsu Mode Seminar. He uses elements of watercolor and collage to create rhythmical drawings that incorporate elements of simple shapes and patterns. He has held solo exhibitions, and is also active in product and ceramic production.
