岐阜県多治見で作陶する田中太郎さん。今回の個展は太郎さんが借りていた畑の土を使った野焼きの作品を展示します。これから駐車場になってしまう畑への愛情が込められた小さな優しい形。宝物のような作品との出会いの場になればと思っています。

小さなオブジェ、壺や器などの土器が水犀に並びます。日常で使うことにより愛情が深まる作品です。

僕が借りていた畑は、今年の初めに買い取られ駐車場になることになった。

畑で作業をしていると、いつも様々な考えが頭の中で生まれては消えてを繰り返していた。
なぜなのか、どうしてなのか、気づいたと思って言葉にしようとすると次の瞬間にはどこかへいってしまう。

思考の波に揺られながら、目の前に広がる草だらけの畑をかき分けて、あれやこれやと手を動かす。
そうしていると、ふとした拍子に考えていた様々なことが、だんだんと繋がっていくような不思議な感覚になる時がある。
思考の波が互いにぶつかり混ざりあいながら、また離れていくようなその感覚は、小さな宇宙を俯瞰しているようでとてもワクワクした。
土や草に触れて五感で感じる様々なことが、自分の体の端々に染み込んでくるようなその体験は、まるでその場所との対話を楽しんでいるようだった。

僕にとって友人のような畑とのお別れ。
たとえ忘れてしまったとしても、ふと思い出してまためぐり逢えるように。
貴方の一部を分けてもらい、優しく抱きしめるように形を作る。

TANAKA Taro Solo Exhibition “till we meet again”

Some of the exhibited works will be available for sale on the web from 18:00 on July 27.

Taro Tanaka, a potter in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. This solo exhibition will feature earthenware pieces fired in the field using soil from a field that Taro had rented. These small, gentle shapes express his love for the field, which is about to become a parking lot. We hope this will be a place to encounter these treasured works of art.

Small objects, jars, vessels, and other earthenware will be on display at the Mizusai. These works will deepen your affection for them as you use them in your daily life.

The field I was renting was bought earlier this year and turned into a parking lot.

Whenever I was working in the field, various thoughts kept coming and going in my head. I would try to put them into words when I thought I had realized why or why not, but the next moment they would disappear.

Swayed by the waves of my thoughts, I wade through the grassy field spread out before me and move my hands this way and that. As I do this, I sometimes get the strange sensation that the various things I was thinking about are gradually becoming connected to each other. This sensation of waves of thoughts colliding and mixing with each other, and then separating again, was very exciting, as if I was looking down on a small universe.
The experience of touching the soil and grass and feeling the various things with my five senses seep into every part of my body was like enjoying a dialogue with the place.

It was like saying goodbye to a field that was like a friend to me. Even if I have forgotten you, I hope that I will be able to meet you again when I remember you. I was given a part of you, and I formed it as if I was holding it gently.

TANAKA Taro

野焼きで土器を制作。物のあり方に興味を持ち、窯を持たない原始的な制作スタイルで、自身の身の回りにある物事の根源を探り続けている。窯で焼き締められた器とは違う、野焼きによる火の模様や、土器ならではの柔らかな表情が特徴。

野良仕事やスパイスカレー研究をしながら自宅の庭で野焼きをして土器を制作

He produces earthenware by field firing. Interested in the way things are, he continues to explore the roots of things around him in his primitive, kiln-less production style. Unlike kiln-fired vessels, his works are characterized by the fire patterns created by field firing and the soft expression unique to earthenware.
