東京・南青山に店を構える、古物と植物の店「はいいろオオカミ＋花屋西別府商店」。店主の二人は、古物を中心に扱い設計士としても活動する「はいいろオオカミ」の佐藤克耶さんと、植物を用いたオブジェを制作しながら生花店も営む「花屋 西別府商店」の西別府久幸さんです。
本展では、古物・植物・自然物といった素材をそれぞれの視点で見立て、再構成した作品を展示しています。佐藤さんの見立てた古物と西別府さんの植物が重なり合い、新たなかたちと表現を生み出しています。古いものや自然の素材に向けられた二人の敬意がかたちとなった作品には、時間や命の巡りを感じさせる穏やかな気配が漂います。

制作の素材として手にする古物には、既に一度役目を終えたはずなのに、どこかまだ完成されていない予感がある。その予感を手繰り寄せて新しい在るべき姿をいつも追い求めている。

小さな頃に空想した不思議な世界、古びた時計や蘭橙の中に潜む仄かな瞬き。
野に咲く小さな花を見つけたときの様な喜びと小さな幸せを常に心に描き制作している。

Antiques Haiiro Ookami & Flowers Nishibeppu sho-ten exhibition “Where a faint Sign Dwells”

Haiiro Ookami + Hanaya Nishibeppu Shoten is a shop in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, dedicated to antiques and plants. It is run by SATO Katsuya of Haiiro Ookami, who works primarily with antiques and is also active as a designer, and NISHIBEPPU Hisayuki of Hanaya Nishibeppu Shoten, who creates sculptural objects using plants while also running a flower shop.
In this exhibition, works composed of antiques, plants, and natural materials are presented, reinterpreted and reconfigured through their respective perspectives. Antiques selected by Sato and plants by Nishibeppu overlap and interact, giving rise to new forms and expressions.
The works embody the two artists’ deep respect for old objects and natural materials, and carry a quiet presence that evokes the cycles of time and life.

SATO Katsuya
The antiques I work with seem to carry a quiet sense of incompletion, despite having already fulfilled their original roles. I follow this subtle premonition, searching for the form they may yet become.

NISHIBEPPU Hisayuki
The mysterious worlds I imagined as a child—the faint glimmers hidden within old clocks and bitter oranges. I create while holding in my mind the quiet joy and small happiness one feels upon discovering a tiny wildflower blooming in the field.

店名はロシアの民話『イワン王子とはいいろおおかみ』から。
ロシアや日本の生活に根差した古道具を買い付けるほか、住宅やインテリアの設計も行う。

西別府久幸（にしべっぷ・ひさゆき）
花屋 西別府商店 店主
「はいいろオオカミ」での展示を機に佐藤と空間を共有。
木の根やキノコ、古木などを使い独自の世界観を表現するほか、活け込みや空間ディスプレイなども手がける。

SATO Katsuya
Owner of the antique Haiiro Ookami. The name of the store comes from the Russian folktale “Prince Ivan and the White Wolf”.
In addition to buying old tools rooted in Russian and Japanese life, he also designs houses and interiors.

NISHIBEPPU Hisayuki
Owner of flowers Nishibeppu sho-ten
Hisayuki Nishibeppu shares the same space with Sato after his exhibition at “antique Haiiro Ookami. He uses tree roots, mushrooms, and old trees to express his own unique worldview, and is also involved in flower arranging and spatial displays.
