画家・田中健太郎さんは、日々移ろいゆく時間のなかで生まれる感情や気配を、手を動かすことで確かめるように描いています。線を重ね、形を探る過程は、思考や感情の揺れを受け止める時間でもあり、動物の姿は、作家自身の内面や感覚を映し出すための媒介として描かれています。
本展は、水犀での三回目の展示となり、これまでの歩みを引き継ぎながら、より深まった田中健太郎さんの表現をご覧いただける機会です。

昼と夜のあいだに立ち上がる
輪郭を持つ前の気配
名もなき生き物たちは
静かな時間の層から現れる

移ろい過ぎていく時間と
名づけられる前の感覚を
そのまま留めておきたかった

見る人が立ち止まり
呼吸がほどけるとき
そこに、あわいが生まれる

TANAKA Kentarou “liminal (awai)”
2026.1.24 sat – 2.1 sun

Painter TANAKA Kentarou explores the emotions and subtle presences that arise within the flow of everyday time, drawing as if to confirm them through the movement of his hands. The process of layering lines and searching for form becomes a time of receiving and holding fluctuations of thought and feeling, while the figures of animals appear as mediums that reflect the artist’s own inner world and sensibilities.
This exhibition marks Tanaka’s third show at mizusai, offering an opportunity to encounter his expression as it deepens while carrying forward the path he has traced thus far. We invite you to experience the works at the venue.

Between day and night,
a presence rises before taking form.
Nameless creatures emerge from quiet layers of time.

I wanted to let remain as they are
the passing flow of time
and sensations before they are named.

When the viewer pauses,
when the breath gently loosens,
there, awai is born.

国内外での個展で作品の制作と発表を続けながら、 企業やブランドとの様々なプロジェクトを行う。

TANAKA Kentarou
Born in 1977 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
While continuing to create and present his work through solo exhibitions in Japan and abroad, he is also engaged in a wide range of projects in collaboration with companies and brands.
