［ガラスに金箔、混合技法（テンペラ・油樹脂絵具併用）］
靴は、宮崎さんが繰り返し取り組んできたテーマのひとつです。「靴に限らず、道具や日用品には、それを使う人の姿や暮らしを想像する楽しさがあります。」と宮崎さん。
本作は、12世紀頃に生まれた硝子画の技法を用い、ガラスの裏面からテンペラ絵具と油絵具で描いています。この技法は、古くは宗教儀礼具や装飾に用いられ、20世紀初頭には北欧の工芸の中で受け継がれ、さらにシュールレアリスムの画家たちによって再評価されました。裏側から描くため、制作工程や構図は通常の絵画とは反転し、最初の筆致が最前面に、最後の筆致が奥に重なります。そのため一定の修練を要しますが、絵具が空気に触れないという特性から、ガラスが破損したり水に浸されたりしない限り、鮮やかな発色は数百年にわたって保たれます。
額はフランスのアンティーク。

Shoes are one of the recurring themes in Miyazaki’s work. “Not only shoes, but also tools and everyday objects offer the pleasure of imagining the people who use them and their lives,” says Miyazaki.
This piece is created using the stained glass technique that originated around the 12th century, painting on the reverse side of the glass with tempera and oil paint. Historically, this technique was used for religious ritual objects and decorative works, later carried on in early 20th-century Nordic crafts, and subsequently re-evaluated by Surrealist painters.Because it is painted from the reverse, the process and composition are inverted compared to traditional painting: the first strokes appear at the front, and the last strokes lie at the back. This requires considerable skill, but since the paint does not come into contact with air, the vivid colors are preserved for centuries unless the glass is broken or submerged in water.
The frame is a French antique.
