［羊皮紙に自家製調合インク］
蹲る人とは、倒れながらもなお、再び立ち上がろうとする意志を宿す存在です。旧約聖書に登場する怪力の英雄・サムソンをモチーフとしています。サムソンの有名な物語は、ペリシテ人の女デリラとの関係にあります。デリラはサムソンの力の秘密を探り、ついに髪に神の力が宿ることを突き止め、彼の髪を切ってしまいます。結果、サムソンは力を失い、ペリシテ人に捕らえられて盲目にされます。そこから髪が再び伸び、立ち上がろうとする瞬間の姿を描いています。
羊皮紙に自家製調合インクで描いています。羊皮紙特有の質感と、黒一色で表された蹲る人の姿が、観る者を遠い過去へとタイムスリップさせてくれます。
額は大地堂のオーダー品です。

[Parchment with custom-mixed ink]
The Crouching Figure embodies the will to rise again, even while fallen. It is inspired by Samson, the mighty hero of the Old Testament. Samson’s most famous story involves his relationship with Delilah, a Philistine woman who sought the secret of his strength. She ultimately discovered that his power resided in his hair and cut it, causing Samson to lose his strength and be captured and blinded by the Philistines. This work depicts the moment when his hair has grown back and he is preparing to stand once more.
Rendered in custom-mixed ink on parchment, the unique texture of the parchment combined with the figure depicted entirely in black transports the viewer to a distant past.
The frame is a custom-made piece by Daichidō.
