This work depicts an orchid succession ceremony—or, alternatively, a drama of usurpation.An old frame by Daichidō is used, enhancing the sense of time and narrative inherent in the work.
It is executed on watercolor paper, with layers of watercolor and tempera paint. It is fitted with low-reflection acrylic glazing.
