「空蝉（うつせみ）」とは、抜け殻となった蝉を表す言葉であり、儚さや、残された気配を象徴しています。内側をバーナーで焼いた後に墨汁とアクリルメディウムで仕上げています。外側には土とアクリルメディウムを混ぜたものを塗り、木の模様を活かしながらも落ち着いたトーンに抑えています。内と外の色味にコントラストをつけることで、巻貝のような造形を際立たせています。
“Utsusemi”(empty shell of existence) r refers to the empty shell of a cicada, symbolizing transience and the lingering presence of what once was. The interior is burned with a torch and finished with black ink, while the exterior is coated with soil, creating a subdued tone that still highlights the natural grain of the wood. The contrast between the colors of the inside and outside enhances the shell-like, spiral form of the piece.
