「空蝉（うつせみ）」とは、抜け殻となった蝉を表す言葉であり、儚さや残された気配を象徴しています。
内側をバーナーで焼き、墨汁で仕上げ、外側には土を塗り重ねています。太古の時代の開きかけた花のようなフォルムと、カンナやノミの跡を荒々しく残したテクスチャがさらに原始的な風景を想像させる作品です。
“Utsusemi”(empty shell of existence) rrefers to the empty shell left behind by a cicada, symbolizing transience and the lingering presence of what once was. The interior of the piece is burned with a torch and finished with black ink, while the exterior is layered with soil. Its form, reminiscent of an ancient flower on the verge of blooming, combined with the rough texture left by carving tools, evokes a sense of a primordial landscape.
