This work consists of a photograph printed on A4-sized paper, overlaid with white sheets of the same size to limit the visible area of the image. The left and right sides of the photograph are covered with white paper and secured with small magnets, leaving only a narrow vertical section visible in the center.
By restricting the field of view, the relationships between the elements within the photograph are altered, offering a new way of perceiving a familiar scene as a distinct "place."Photographed in a residential neighborhood in western Tokyo, where the artist's studio is located.
Artist's Comment:
"This work is an attempt to capture a sense of place that emerges precisely through 'limiting the field of view' ≈ 'limiting the relationships between the elements that exist within it.'
