牧由加里 MAKI Yukari / MY-26-38 無題

神社の梅の木の伐採に立ち会った際に出会った材を用いて制作された作品。
木が生育する中で生まれた形を活かし、2つの物体のズレを表現しています。不要な部分を削ぎ落とし、側面にはチェーンソーの跡を残し、上部はノミで仕上げています。木がもともと持つ複雑な形と荒々しい加工跡が重なり、力強く存在感のある作品です。

※作品の発送は、企画展終了後の10月15日以降となります。

This work was created from plum wood that MAKI Yukari encountered while attending the felling of a tree at a shrine.
Making use of the form that developed naturally as the tree grew, the work expresses a shift between two forms. Unnecessary sections were carved away, while chainsaw marks were left visible on the sides and the upper surface was finished with a chisel.
The complex natural form of the wood and the rough traces of the carving process come together, giving the work a powerful presence.
