牧由加里 MAKI Yukari / MY-26-2 響　hibiki

山口県・防府天満宮の御神木を用いて制作された作品。
枝分かれによって生まれた木本来の形を活かしながら造形し、立木の時に枝が落ちた跡もそのまま残しています。表面は漆で仕上げ、ノミによる細かな跡を残しています。木がもともと持つ形と作家の手による造形が重なり、見る方向によって異なる表情を見せる作品です。

※作品の発送は、企画展終了後の10月15日以降となります。

This work was created using wood from a sacred tree at Hofu Tenmangu Shrine in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
While preserving the natural form created by the branching of the tree, MAKI Yukari shaped the piece while leaving intact the traces where branches had naturally fallen away while the tree was still standing. The surface is finished with urushi lacquer, with fine chisel marks intentionally left visible.
The original form of the wood and the artist’s intervention come together, giving the work a different appearance depending on the viewing angle.
