牧由加里 MAKI Yukari / MY-26-1 響　hibiki

山口県・防府天満宮の御神木を用いて制作された作品。
枝分かれによって生まれた木本来の形を活かしながら、窪みを彫り込み、牧由加里の意思を加えて造形しています。素材がもともと持つ形と作家の手による造形が重なり、大きな窪みと丸みのあるフォルムが、力強さと柔らかさをあわせ持つ作品です。
表面は漆で仕上げています。

※作品の発送は、企画展終了後の10月15日以降となります。

This work was created using wood from a sacred tree at Hofu Tenmangu Shrine in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
While preserving the natural form created by the branching of the tree, MAKI Yukari carved a deep hollow into the wood, adding her own artistic intention to its form. The original shape of the material and the artist’s intervention come together in a rounded form with a large hollow, giving the work a sense of both strength and softness.
The surface is finished with urushi lacquer.
