トチのスポルテッド材を使用した台です。
トチは本来、白く美しい木肌を持つ木ですが、ごく稀に菌の作用によって繊細な筋模様が現れます。この模様は海外で「スポルテッド（Spalted Wood）」と呼ばれ、ギターやビリヤードキュー、ステッキなど、高級木工品の装飾材としても珍重されています。
本作品には、スポルテッドの模様が豊かに現れた希少なトチの古木を使用しています。自然が長い年月をかけて生み出した唯一無二の表情が生かされています。
この作品は、何かを置くための台という機能だけでなく、木を削り、磨き上げた素肌のような質感に触れ、自身の触覚をゆっくりとひらいていくための装置として制作されています。

This pedestal is crafted from rare spalted Japanese horse chestnut (Tochi).
Tochi is naturally known for its pale, creamy white wood, but on rare occasions, fungal activity creates delicate dark lines and patterns. Known internationally as spalted wood, this striking figure is highly prized for decorative use in fine woodworking, including guitars, billiard cues, and walking sticks.
This piece is made from a rare, aged section of spalted Tochi with exceptionally rich figuring, preserving the one-of-a-kind patterns created by nature over many years.
While it can be used as a pedestal for displaying objects, the work is intended to be more than a functional stand. By revealing the wood's natural surface through careful carving and polishing, it invites the viewer to experience its skin-like texture and to awaken a deeper sense of touch through direct physical engagement with the material.
